Instructions
  1. In a bowl combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and set aside. This are your dry ingredients.
  2. In a mixing bowl cream the sugar and butter.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla until well combined.
  4. Add the dry ingredients and milk alternating 3 times and combining well in between every addition. Start with the dry and finish with the milk.
  5. Add the lemon zest and beat for about one more minute
  6. Transfer the batter into 3 - 8" round cake pans and bake at 350°F for 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean if inserted in the middle of the cake.
  7. Let it cool down in the pans for 10 minutes before you remove it from the pan to let it cool down completely.
