How to make unicorn cupcakes

Oh my word, unicorn cupcakes!

Have you seen those cuties?

These are the version of my rainbow unicorn cake but just in cupcakes.

They are perfect to make so every kiddo would get their own unicorn treat. My kids would be so happy for sure.

Three months ago, I was excited about making unicorn cupcakes for my nice’s daughter’s birthday.

After some deep thinking, my niece decided to make only one birthday party for two of her kids so no unicorn cupcakes were needed anymore. Which is wise of her, I would’ve done the same.

In fact that is exactly what I did a couple of years back when two of my kids were turning 3 and 1. Now days, my kids “demand” to have their own separate birthday party. It is understandable one is a boy and then my girl. Unless, they talk it over and choose a theme involving boys and girls characters such as Toy Story.

Well, so no unicorn cupcakes for my nice, just a very colorful unicorn cake. The party decorations were so pretty, she likes to decorate so nicely to every event she hosts. She bought some very cute unicorn hairbands for the little girls to wear during the piñata. Now that I think about it, I do not know why we call a birthday party a piñata. When we are invited to a birthday party we say ” we are going to a piñata” instead of “we are going to a b-day party.

Part of the decorations was a candy table where the cake was placed later on. You could find more candies than a mother would like her kids to have access to, oh boy! they were happy. The goodie bags or should I say goodie boxes were decorated as unicorns. The wall had colorful paper flowers, balloons and right next to the table, a beautiful unicorn piñata. We all had so much fun…and so much food until the hubby started to feel sick. He got better later on.

She is into planning her b-day party

We are about 8 month away from my girls party and she is already on the planning. Can you guess the theme she chose?…aha, exactly. Unicorn.

In her mind she know how she want the decorations, the cake, her outfit and who she is inviting to her birthday. Adding these cute unicorn cupcakes to the dessert table will look super cute. Of course when she saw the unicorn cupcakes she was like awww mom, they are so cute. Can I have them for my party?. I had to say yes, she is my world.

I started collecting ideas for the party on a pinterest board. There are tons of great ideas.

From the cupcakes I made, I have two that are my favorite ones, can you guess which ones?

The one with the gold glitter and the one with the rose gold horn. Did you notice I used rose gold highlighter on it?. The rest of the is just gold highlighter. Now the rose gold tone can me made by mixing some of the gold and some bronze highlighter

*Just a a strong recommendation, remove the horn and ears from the cupcakes before you eat them. And do not sprinkle any of the glitter on the buttercream. All of these products are non toxic buy it is best to remove them before eating the cupcake.

I will be making these unicorn cupcakes again some time soon and maybe I can learn how to make unicorn shaped macarons.
